Time To Quit Griping

I did it. I get tired of people complaining all the time, so I quit complaining and did it.

I joined Weight Watchers on-line today. It is time for me to lose that last 15-20 I’ve been griping about for the last year.

I am more grounded now and realize my dreams of being sylph-like are just not to be. My goal is just to be in better shape at 40 than I was at 30… which shouldn’t be that much of a stretch since I was 6 months post partum at 30.

We shall see…

Haha, nice!

Hell, I'm 23 and I'll never be sylph-like! Even if I ever do become "slender" (and I'm not holding my breath), I will never be graceful!

I have to decide about the WW Online...what do you think of it online?

Anyone reading this... Sissy has a vocab word of the week we're supposed to use in a post. Sylph is this week's word! I'll talk more about it tomorrow.

Sissy- I'm loving it on-line. Even though I know about portion control, it has me stunned by what I have been doing to my bod. It's not a good thing.

OK, now you've done it. ::sigh::

A coupla years ago, I took 50 pounds of lard off, and it's stayed off, but I never got that last 20 pounds... now you make the third person (two offline) this week to start something I should have finished, and I guess I'll imbue that coincidence with meaning and choose to complete the task.

Of course, for a mid-50s guy that's pretty set in his ways, I expect a lot of support. Hey! quit it with the razzberries, already!

Anyway, doing it for yourself: good on you.

Good job Bou! I'm sure you'll have it off in no time.

Yeah, Bou, take it off! Take it ALL off!

Uh... all 15-20 pounds of it... I mean... :-)

Way to go Bou! I'm sure you'll have those pounds off in no time.

I am going to keep bitching about it....and not join,. I am going to keep going to my pilates and yoga...which by the way is an ass kicker. But I am still going to mention my baby weight in at least 1 out of 3 posts......

ArmyWifeToddlerMom makes a good point. Whatever you do, don't stop griping, Bou.

:-)

You gonna transmogrify yourself into a sylph?

I am 21, and I joined Weight Watchers just after my 19th birthday. I am 5'8 and thanks to college I was up around 170 lbs. This was really far from my ideal weight of 135-140. It was really hard to stick to on a college budget, so after my first semester of the program I quit. Although I was no longer going to meetings, the books had made me totally aware or something lifestyle changes I needed to make. Since then I have gotten back to my goal weight. So much good luck to you!

AWTM, mine is not baby weight. You can't call it baby weight when your baby is 5 3/4 years old!

David- That's what happened. All these people starting doing something about it and I took it as a sign I needed to.

Harv- Heh. I need to make sure if there's a damn hot tub at the next reunion I'm not embarrassed to be in a damn bathing suit.

TGOO- I need to talk about Sissy about Transmogrify as a word of the week. I can have that in every post. And if I transmogrify myself into a Sylph, will I smell like chicken?

Silent Warrior- Thanks, dude. Seriously. I know you keep yourself. I'll have to have a post about what's really going on.

And Emily... thank you so much for commenting!!! I'm always excited to have people comment. And thank you more than anything for your words of encouragement!

Oh and VW... heh, I have not forgotten. You and me. You get sleep and we'll talk about a friendly competition...

Bou...don't worry we will just blind fold Harvey...

Posted by: ArmyWifeToddlerMom at May 2, 2005 11:07 PM

Good Luck - I hope it works for you (although you really didn't look like you had 10 or 15 pounds to lose when I saw you... just my impression.

I have a friend who has done WW for the last 4 years or so. She lost over 100 pounds and has kept it off. She has just moved to Arizona and while driving from her old place in Florida to her new place, she was pulled over by a cop for speeding. When he saw her license pic and then looked at her... he couldn't believe it was the same person. Instead of giving her a ticket, he said he needed to lose some weight and could she give him a few tips... so she told him about WW - and wrote out some recipes for him. LOL.

You don't need to blindfold me. I *prefer* girls who look soft & curvy!

On the other hand, who am I to object to a little blindfolding? :-)
