My Acrophobic Pyromaniac

I guess the 5th graders had to give their teacher three facts about themselves. They brought them home after she reviewed them. These are Son#1's Facts:

1. I like to glue ants to the ground with weed sap.

2. I'm acrophobic.

3. I like to make fires and throw ants in.

Lovely. Just... lovely.

I said to him, "You are not afraid of heights. Why did you put that?"

His reply? "Because I was reading my dictionary and I came across that word and I thought it was cool." (He even spelled it correctly.)

So now she thinks my son is an acrophobic pyromaniac that has a thing for torturing and killing ants. I hope she has sons...

I love it! an acrophobic pyromaniac that don't like ants. The boy has a future in pest contoll! Fire ants are a big health hazard you know. I need to talk to him about what kind of weed sap he is using to stick them to the ground because I got a bunch of fireants around my place. LOL

In my opinion you just described the perfect man. :-)

And I love the fact that he loves that word!!!

Hey! At least you now know that he *uses* his dictionary! That's a good thing...........

Tater hates ants... I wonder what he will do with them? Guess it depends on how much he hangs around your first son!

.. he's already working that teacher.... using that word was a way of showing three things to her... he's smart... he's not to be triffled with (especially by ants).. and he's a comedian...

... that teacher had better watch out...

He thought the word was cool... hmmm... makes me wonder if he even knows what it means :P

I guess you should just be glad that he was going through the A's and found that one to be cool sounding before he came across something like "autoerotic" ;)

S- He definitely knows what it means. He is a voracious reader and carries a 3 inch dictionary with him wherever he goes. He's been reading it in the car as of late. Obviously we are working through the A's...

Excellent, excellent. I loved reading the dictionary when I was younger. Actually plan to to have daily words when Brenna gets older...

I've actually been getting a daily "word of the day" email from dictionary.com for probably a couple of years now - yay words!

I love that he is using the dictionary to look up words and finding ways to use them. He will have a lifelong love of learning, which in my opinion is a great thing.

Don't worry about the ants. When I was a little girl I used to build them hospitals and rivers and things. I don't think they were enthralled. But the teacher has probably been there.

You know... there are criminal psychiatrists that would have a lot to say about that list... a lot.

Me, I think it's funny.

Excellent! At least he's honest and likes big words.

Hmmm... when I was a fifth grader, we'd raid the lawn mower cache for some gasoline and in choreographed maneuver, one would dig deep into a fire ant nest, another would pour and then we'd light 'er up.

Mother approved.
