Bad Driving Capital of the USA?

I have now driven all over most of North Atlanta and into downtown Atlanta a number of times and of all the places I've been, today was the worst. I am here to tell you... I frickin' HATE I-85.

Good God.

I tried to get off I-85 at some hellish intersection called Pleasant something or other... Pleasant Hill maybe... and it was NOT pleasant. At all. By any stretch.

I thought we might die. Road rage. Or get knocked into kingdom come by some idiot who thought he knew how to drive.

So here's the deal folks... I personally think that it is not too extreme to think that the urban planners in Gwinnet County (I may have spelled that wrong), should be rounded up and shot.

And perhaps as many as 50% of the drivers in that county should have their licenses revoked.

It made me long for driving in frickin' Miami. And I hate driving in Miami.

It sucked. It truly sucked.

Thank you ... Thank you ... I've driven communter traffic in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Guadalajara, San Jose and San Francisco...nothing scares me like traffic on I-85.

I haven't driven on I-85, but I'm conceding nothing. In a 6-day span last week in San Diego, I was rear-ended twice and had another close call that had my life flashing in front of my eyes. The drivers in SoCal are insane!!!

Driven in So Cal. Driven in DC. Driven in Denver, Seattle, San Fran, Miami, Orlando, Nashville, Chicago, Bogota.

NOTHING is as bad as dealing with ATL roads and drivers.

It's what broke me and drove me away from cities.

We southerners were very polite drivers before all these damn Yankees got here.

Absolutely. When I drive through that area, I have literally found a local map and driven an hour or more out of the way to avoid driving I-85 in Atlanta.

Every other year when we go to Ohio for our family reunion, we always time so that we go through Atlanta in the wee hours of the morning. One time we didn't quite time it right and I thought we were going to die. I totally feel you on this one....

I don't know, Bou... Nashville's gotta be a close second, if not a tie. At least I've driven through Atlanta without seeing a wreck. Everytime that I go through Nashville, someone's piling onto someone else...

It's spelled "Gwinnett" but no matter....I'll spring for the bullets.

I've driven in L.A., Houston, and Atlanta. The drive through Atlanta was in the wee hours of the morning and it was still the worst of those three!

Atlanta does suck a big one, Cat

Pleasant Hill Road. Zonker always has us drive to Gwinnett County for our meetups. We're doing Roswell on Saturday night.

Yeah, I did it one time..and that was enough. But you ought to hit I-275 in Tampa about 7:30 am if you really want to see a goat rope.

We too have voted Hotlanta, the worst city to drive in....

It is dangerous, although Memphis drivers are almost as bad...

We lived in and around Atlanta for years, didn't think too highly of the DOT, and found many drivers were... not too great. Then we moved to Chicagoland and Milwaukee (don't ask). Milwaukee drivers make incredibly stupid terrifying mistakes all the time, and Chicagoland drivers are dangerously vicious. Plus, everyone up there passes on the right. I'd rather take my chances in Atlanta!

My votes are Atlanta and Houston, for the reasons outlined above!
