Mom The Dork

I was walking out of the mall with my eldest boys the other day when in the parking lot I said, “hmm. I’m trying to remember where my van is…”

Ringo said, “It’s in this aisle, Mom…”

We kept walking and walking, down the aisle he picked, and finally I said, “You’re wrong. My car isn’t here.”

Then right in front of me I saw my van and he turned and looked at me and said, “Oh. Really?”

Later on that night, I was blogging and reading. I went over to VW’s and Ringo came by the computer. I said, “Hey look at these pictures of Tater and Tot!”

He looked at them and I said, “Wait. Does that pumpkin look rotten?” (Our pumpkins rot very quickly down here.)

Ringo started to laugh and said, “Yeah, I think its starting…”

So I went over to the comments and put my comment, “Ringo and I think that pumpkin looks rotten! LOL!”

And my son sees this and starts to laugh and says to me, “Yay! You know what LOL means!”

I am telling you… my kid really really thinks I’m a big frickin’ dork. Oh don’t get me wrong, he is very sweet about it, but he thinks I’m a dork.

BTW, the pumpkin isn’t rotten. Tater and Tot just covered it in black marker…

My Kids think I am a dork, but my nieces and nephews think I am the MAN!!

LOL, come to think of it, that is exactly how I remember that age. My parents were dorky, but my Aunts and Uncles were way cool....

So the good news is, right now, MO and TN are the cool ones, but later, you get those honors!

You know... when you wrote that you think the pumpkins looked rotten I first thought you meant artistically. Then I thought that's such a NY thing to say but I know you wouldn't have said something that "rotten" so I went back and reread. So much for trying to speed read at this late hour. I think I'll try reading you in the morning.

The course I took was in "Speedreading for dummies"... so I'm the dork!

Oh... I should take a picture of it now. With all that black marker, in this heat, sitting outside. It definitely looks... uhhh... rotten. ;-)

So are you claiming that you're NOT a dork? Shall we take a poll (starting with your kids)? ;)

Posted by: Ogre at October 23, 2006 06:39 AM

Ah yes. My kids think I'm a dork too. Unfortunately, in some things they are correct but since I am still the family taxi driver, they have to be nice to me if they want to go anywhere or do anything. :o)

I've always thought you were a dork...

...but a dork knows a dork

Posted by: Sissy at October 23, 2006 10:05 AM

Of course you're a dork. You will continue to be a dork until Bones is about ready to graduate from college, at which time your IQ and overall coolness is likely to take a big leap.

You're entering the Dorky Years. Enjoy them while you can...

I think Elisson is optimistic with the timing. Girls generally figure out in college that mom might actually know something. Boys... they take a bit longer. Say sometime between the ages of 23 and 30 you will suddenly become a person who knows a thing or two. *grin*

Mom, Dad and I think you and Mo are both dorks.

We voted on it about 20 years ago. I'll try to remember the specifics,

Posted by: Toluca Nole at October 23, 2006 10:12 PM

This vote has been mentioned before by you... I think before it was just me. I'm glad to see Mo has joined me!

Mo a dork? I think not.

Posted by: Denny at October 23, 2006 10:34 PM

Just for the record, I don't think you're a dork either, but most people think I'm one so what do I know?
