Gators RULE!

You have NO IDEA how happy I am that the Gators not only pulled this off but shut down Ohio.

No idea.

Since they announced who was going to be in this game, I have quietly choked as I heard person after person say UF did not deserve to be there. I knew they have had the toughest schedule.

They're in the SEC.

The SEC eat their young.

And I sat here quietly saying to myself, 'UF will show them. They will show the Big 10 and OSU, and all the rest of the folks exactly what they're made of.'

And they did.

And I'm so damn happy.

Beyond belief.

I stayed up to watch it as I had to see it. I had to be able to sit here and see them win as I've watched nearly every other win this season.

Go Gators!

And I still say, The SEC is THE Conference. They're it. Just UF is the King right now.

If its not UF next year, I hope its another SEC... except South Carolina. That's where Spurrier coaches and I'll never root for them.

Whooo hooo! Go Gators!!!

I am so not a Gators fan but at the beginning of the game last night I looked at Spurs and said "Florida is going to win this one". He looked at me like I was crazy. We didn't watch the whole game and this morning Spurs said "Your right, they beat the crap out of them". I just had a feeling that the SEC was a little more hungry for it. I want to see either Carolina, Georgia or Florida State in it next year :)

Well said Bou.

And as a native Floridian who is SO, SO, SO tired of people moving here, then supporting outside languages, nations, cities, sports teams, etc. and then telling us Locals how great their FORMER place is, I thank the Gators for decisively shutting them up.

ESPN chooses their golden children and talk about them endlessly. If they gave equal coverage or bias to Florida, people would not have been surpised that they were so good.

Congrats to the Gators. While I'm definitely not a Gators fan, I was hoping they'd win. I had to pull for the SEC. Maybe now people will concur - the SEC is the strongest conference. Next year we'll get the Gators at home and we'll see what happens. Geaux Tigers!

Great post, Bou! Count me in with George as a fellow native Floridian who is also tired of the whole foreign language issue. As a die-hard Gator fan, even I was impressed with the way they played. just pure genius on Urban Meyer's part. What a season!!

And you know, I actually believe there are a couple SEC teams that could have beaten OSU this past season. Not just UF. Include LSU in that and even UT. There were some really good games as they pounded each other into the dirt during regular SEC play. I'd like to have seen OSU play them all as UF did and not have taken a beating at least once.

Spoke with my sister today, who is the biggest Buckeye fan ever and I do mean ever. She said, "Florida proved the SEC is the best conference by far. They whipped Ohio State's butts and didn't even take names." She also liked the commentary made in reference to it being Florida's year for winning everything: champions in basketball, football and Dancing with the Stars. She loves Emmitt Smith's smile, but who doesn't? :-)

Being agnostic - I didn't really have a horse in this race and didn't care who won. But it always bothers me when people start acting as if the game shouldn't even be played! I hear that a LOT up here. It's like they decide who will win... and that's it! Why bother with all those pesky little details like actually playing.

It was definitely mismatched from the beginning. OSU had nothing at all... didn't even change things up at halftime!!! The second half I only peeked in on occasionally since it had become pretty boring.

Hands down the best game of the year was the Fiesta Bowl with Boise State (who also wasn't supposed to win... heh)

Sigh, I'm just a former transplant but even I wanted the gators to win!

Eh, the gators got lucky... (ducks)

GO GATORS!!!!

Yep, I'm 100% Gator fan.

I agree that LSU could have whipped OSU (Over-rated State University), as I believe Auburn could of as well. Tenn, I dunno, but hey I'm no fan of the Orange.

BTW, do you know the best thing about being a Tennessee Grad? You never have to change clothes, you can wear the same orange vest to the game on Saturday, hunting on Sunday, and back to work picking up trash the rest of the week....

Sorry couldn't resist!!

That was an awesome game. People had been giving me a hard time for weeks when they saw the giant Gators magnets splashed on my car here in NC. The most common comment was something along the lines of, "You like the longshots, huh?"

The magnets are still on.

:)

Bou,
The Indy airport was FILLED with OSU fans heading out to the game. I guess all the Columbus flights were booked. Yep. They got B-slapped by the Gators!

But working here in Oklahoma, my favorite was the Boise State game. I heard lots of smack about what a crappy draw that OU got and Boise shouldn't even be in the BCS. That game was better than Christmas!
