Pinewood Derby

We had the Pinewood Derby today. The boys entered three cars, one for Wolves, one for Webelos and a family car.

Bones came in 2nd for the Wolves.

The Family car came in 4th.

Mr. T came in 1st for Webelos for both craftsmanship and speed and 3rd overall within the entire Pack.

Needless to say, there was MUCH excitement. They’ve spent the last week painting their own cars (well... Bones had help) and then my husband spent last night weighing, adding weights, and tweaking. There is only so much the boys can do. Decorating is one. Getting a car to run is not one.

Fancy! I don't remember my brother's car looking so good...

Congrats on the trophys!

Your family car should have been an asexual van.

Are those stickers on the cars? Otherwise... wow. I think Mr T has it right! Congrats to him.

Jody- there were some NICE cars. But other than painting, there really is not much a 7 year or 9 year old can do. Well, that and sticking on the stickers. You should see all the stuff the Boy Scout store has now for cars!

Sticks- You're right!!! LOL!

VW- Yup, stickers, although last year, T painted a white skull by himself on it and it turned out pretty damn good.

Why is it that you have boys and you get to show them how to make pine derby cars...I get girls and DH teaches them how to make home-made rockets? (You know the kind that come in science kits?) The only problem is, he has them make them from scratch (complete with little parachutes!) with stuff like my baking soda... then when I go to bake anything... it's gone! There is something not right with this picture!

Wow, that is just awesome!

Hey those are sweet!... No offense to the family rig there, and not to T, the blower is awesome, but hey... A 'neck has got to dig up on anything with the flamin' bird and a xbones on the hood... that just screams cool. I bet it had the nekkid lady mud flaps too.

aaahhh, I just got it. I'm a little slow on the uptake sommetimes... "Bones"... Xbones on the hood? A signature series perhaps?

Does bones watch Smokey and the Bandit often/ever? If not, you might ought to show it to him. I think he'd like it.

If he can paint like that, or apply stickers like that, I might have some piece work for him to do on the hood of my truck...

Nice job at the derby, for all involved. A couple of fine lookin' boys you have their Bou!
