Patty Cake, Patty Cake, Baker's Man

This one is for my brother, Toluca Nole (TN), who any new readers will know as the guy who leaves the crazy comments that are sometimes a bit off color. Heh.

When he was a little guy, corn silk white blonde hair, blue eyes, rosy cheeks, truly one of the cutest little guys you ever did see, short and stocky so that TGOO nicknamed him Fire Plug, he had some favorites on Sesame Street. One time one of the muppets ate some sort of egg sandwich and I think he requested those perpetually for the longest time. Believe it or not, I think it was Cookie Monster, but he’ll correct me if I was wrong.

This was all before Elmo and Snufflupagus.

This was way back with Mr. Hooper was taunted by Big Bird and Oscar ruled with Cookie Monster being the crazy guy.

But my brother’s favorite all time parts of Sesame Street were the Falling Baker. I went on Youtube and put in all sorts of stuff, finally finding the clips with ‘Sesame Street Baker’ where there are a bunch of clips all that end with the infamous Baker saying something like, “Foooooouuuuurrrrr, Roooooooot Beeeeeer Floooooooattts” as he missteps and falls down the stairs spilling said floats all over himself.

So with that… Falling Baker #8.

What a find... ;-)

That is comedy at its finest. I wouldn't have known this as a kid, but after hearing the baker, it appears to be the late Jim Henson. And I think #8 was my favorite bit -- good find.

I think Grover may have been the sandwich guy, but I'm not totally sure. I called it a Sesame Street Sandwich and Mom used to make them for me. I think all it was was a sliced, hard-boiled egg, butter, salt and pepper on bread. Probably around the same time as my raw onion sandwich phase.

Yep, that's all it was: buttered bread, sliced hard boiled egg, with a little salt and pepper...easy, easy, easy. It was so special because it had the right name, Sesame Street Sandwich.

TN- I sifted through a lot of them and remembered #8 best. You may be right... it may have been Grover. I was doing a toss up last night, but now I do think it was Grover.

OH MY GOSH! I made that sandwich for myself last week with an Easter Egg. I forgot that was the Sesame Street sandwich...although I don't think I called it that, but Mom made them for me. Good, warm, comfort memories.

I remember these! hehe May have been reruns, but I watched them ;-)

But the sandwhich....gross!!

I remember watching for years before they featured the number ONE.
And the falling baker had: "One! Wedding! Cake!"

I think he may have decended the staircase successfully that one time.
Am I wrong?
