Hope and No Hope

Today while sitting in the back of the asexual Mom-mobile, Mr. T said to me, “Mom, can you play MY music now? Play my favorite song. That one that goes, ‘I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.’”

Me: Folsom Prison Blues?

Mr. T: yeah, I love that song!!

Heh. My boys are becoming HUGE Johnny Cash fans. Warms my heart it does. Gives me hope…

And then about 20 minutes later, the following conversation was overheard, Bones speaking to Mr. T. We’d just come from the pool, but Bones had been sitting out the last 10 minutes as his eyes were starting to hurt. So he sat in the sun, sweating.

Bones to Mr. T: Hey, watch this! I can lick my arm pit. *Big Pause* Oh man. I can’t believe I just did that…

And with that, all hopes were dashed. Gone. Swept away. Holy crap.

Haha...I was all set to write a response, along the lines of, I was 14 when I first became a fan of JC, after having heard that song myself, but you could imagine as I finished reading through the rest of the post, my hopes were sort of dashed, too.

I'm...speechless. Seriously. How does one even contort their neck to do that? Better yet, don't tell me.

I can do it, but I have a tongue like Gene Simmons and I too like Johnny Cash, but I prefer "Cocaine Blues", "Dark as the Dungeon"
and from the Man Comes Around album, I think his version of "Hurt" was awesome.

When he gets older, that boy is gonna be a hit with the ladies.

Erica- I tell you, I need a video camera for my life at times.

PT- Oh he has this LONG tongue. He can touch his nose!! This is something he is very proud of. He does this tongue wiggle thing that I know to be obscene, but he does not. I try to ignore it.

TN- I'm telling you... its like living with Jim Carry. Or Robin Williams. He exhausts me...

Hmm...that's not quite what I was referring to...

Posted by: Toluca Nole at August 23, 2007 09:47 PM

Well of course he would try to lick his armpit. ROFLMAO!!! I love it.

The boy has talent! As long as he doesn't take his act to a street corner to make money, you don't have to worry. Once he gets paid for being funny, there will be no stopping him!

.... wow... I'd never thought of it until just now.... but yes, I just tried it and there was success....

LOL

TN- Mmm, I know. I was pretending not to notice. I'm good at that...

Teresa- I'm stunned at the crap he thinks of. And to think yesterday I got a note from his teacher saying, "He makes me smile". I wanted to say, "Really? Come live here awhile..."

Peggy- I know. There's no stopping him. With talent like his... whoooo knows...

Eric- Good God. I think you answered a question. Last night as I lay in bed, I was thinking, "I wonder how many people are going to try and lick their armpits." Holy crap that's funny.

LTM-laugh to myself. I am really not a laugh out loud kind of person. Talents come in many forms. Some will be used for good and some won't. I think as parents we NEVER want to think the way Toluca Nole is thinking. Even after they are married.

One day, when he's all cozy with the new fiancée, you can trot out all these Blog Archives, to Bones's intense and lasting mortification...

Note to self: if Bones ever offers you a lick of his ice cream cone, lollipop, or even a sip of his drink, SAY NO!!

Your boys make me laugh. And make me thankful that I have girls. (Which I know will change when my girls are older)

Posted by: Jody at August 24, 2007 10:34 AM

Jody: I take it none of your girls have reached age 12 yet?

Posted by: Peggy U at August 24, 2007 11:39 AM

Hahahahahahaha... Girls just have different stuff. But it's still enough to make my eyes roll... :)

Posted by: Richmond at August 24, 2007 05:49 PM

Oh, thank you for that laugh. (And you know - I had to check. Yes, I could lick MY armpit if I wanted to. Hey - maybe it's just a yet-undiscovered yoga move.)
