Beef with a Side of.... What?

Here is my beef with the Veggie Tale movies.

I can’t figure out what kind of vegetable everyone is.

In case y’all don’t know Veggie Tales, its cartoons with anthropomorphic vegetables.

Talking aspargus? Got it. Mr. T had to point out that the blind dude was a stalk of corn. I knew Sedgewick was a gourd. And we all know Larry the cucumber… well, those of us who know Veggie Tales do.

I figured out ¾ of the way through that George was a grape, but that’s only because Sedgewick the gourd screamed at him at one point, “You Crazy Grape!”, otherwise, I thought he might have been some sort of pea on steroids.

But… what… in the heck… are Eloise and her brother? It’s a green stalk with a round thing on the top. WHAT ARE THEY?

That makes me nuts. They need to put their cast of characters at the end like this:

Larry the CUCUMBER: voice of so and so.

George the GRAPE: voice of so and so.

Butler the Asparagus: voice of so and so.

But NOOOO, they don’t, and now I have spent too much time searching on the web and I’m done. The mystery is unsolved. What in the heck is Eloise?

GRRR

See, you must not have watched as many Veggie DVDs as I have or you would have know Pa Grape going into it.

I'm still not sure what Eloise was. I'm on the Big Idea site to try to find out for you.

I've not watched them as much since Bones is now bigger. From ages 2-4 we owned them ALL. I just don't remember Pa Grape. I kept saying to the boys, 'WHAT is she?"

Princess Eloise is a new Veggie Tales character -- a charming eight-year-old vegetable (leek) version of Star WArs' Princess Leia -- and a great role model....

blah blah blah

I never would have guessed a leek. I was thinking fiddle fern, because of the bulbous head. But a leek? Aren't there already leeks in the regular programs, and don't they look completely different? Or am I thinking of Green Onions?

A frickin' LEEK? Why pick a leek? Kids have NO IDEA what leeks are. Hell, if I'd not cooked with them ONCE 10 years ago, *I'd* not know what a leek is. Good grief.

I think they must be green onions in the other programs.

Eloise is a Rutabaga...of course.

Shows you what I know. I thought leeks and green onions were the same thing, except that leeks were green onions that were just allowed to grow a little longer.

I can't wait to see it!!!

Too funny. We are just beginning Veggie Tales. Lord of The Beans is on sale at Family Christian so I will be picking it up tomorrow. I really want to see Pirates Who Don't Do Anything...

Sad, I know more about kids cartoons/movies than most other topics right now.

I guess I'm too late to say Leek. Courtesy of my hubby.
