Life is GREAT!

Hmmm… what to blog… what to blog.

I could blog on the fact I think I broke a small bone in my foot, but I’m really hoping for soft tissue damage. I’m on day four, its swollen, a spot of discoloration, and Lamaze breathing is coming in handy when I walk.

Or I could blog on the fact I’m taking my Webelos camping on Friday night with a local Boy Scout Troop. Primitive camping.

I always swore I’d not be caught dead primitive camping.

I hear they have port-o-lets. Y’all know how much I frickin’ love those. I’d almost rather let my bladder burst and die of some horrible infection than use one of those…

No running water.

But, the boys are excited so I am too… even though my foot is a mess.

Hey, I’m all about the life experience. Camping with a mess of boys with a messed up foot? Talk about LIFE experience!

Meanwhile, giving up sugar for Lent has gone pretty well. Well… until today. It did go well, but it was my first falter.

I think it was about 10:00. That’s when this want of chocolate hits. I was talking to Mr. Magoo when I started banging my head on my desk saying, “I WANT CHOCOLATE! GRAPES SUCK! THEY DON’T FILL ME UP!”

So other than that little episode, its going GREAT!

Does food that your body converts to sugar also count as sugar? And are you still no dairy, too?

If I gave up all that stuff, I'd probably also look as good in jeans as you do, but the withdrawal might cause me to whack someone with a meat cleaver. I'd go mad.

Friendly advice: Get your skinny little chocolate free rear end to the doctor.

I only gave up snacky sugar. I'm still eating potatoes and dairy... but not so much dairy as I'm lactose intolerant. So its junk food sugar I gave up. And overall, its going pretty well... other than yesterday at 10. Heh.

I have an appt in an hour. He got me in early in case they have to do XRays. I'm really really hoping it is something like damaged soft tissue. I really really really don't want to wear a damn boot.

Hope you didn't break anything; the thought of you out in the woods in a little cast... no.

So far I've done without chocolate... except once, when I almost drove to the store for a bar. But I do think about it several times a day, which is good.

Good luck with that, giving up chocolate is hard... I've given it up twice, and the second time, the worst part was going to a friends house on good friday, two days before I could have it again, and having her mom serve chocolate silk pie...

good luck also with the foot!

What is the worst part about giving up chocolate for Lent is the period.

I should start going crazy in a day or two, it's almost like an alcoholic giving up alcohol cold turkey, the first couple of days is hard.

And not to be the mean one, but it would be better if it was a break in the foot. They cast it up and 6-8 weeks later good as new.

With soft tissue injuries they may never heal properly and then you end up in the mess I am in with my foot. Almost 6 months later and I am still having problems, and new ones have cropped up because the old ones were fixed which created new ones. Agrh

My idea of "primitive camping" is a Sheraton without a pool.

Hope the foot is OK; I agree with Weenie above. A small break would be easier to fix. A pain to deal with of course, but in the long run better.

Agreed with the Weenie on soft tissue injuries. Bad sprains, for example, can stay with you. In fact, they sometimes recommend that you have them surgically repaired so they will heal better. I have an ankle that swells if I step just wrong. Sometimes, if I kick the blankets around at night, I feel it pop - and of course it then swells. The original sprain happened five years ago.

Unless they are smashed, broken bones heal better I think. How does one make it through Valentine's Day w/o chocolate?

I keep saying this over and over, "You are Supermom." Primitive camping with a broken foot? How do you do it?

I'm just guessing that it's broken, because of your age.

Bou, Darlin', I'd rather pull down my britches and squat to pee on God's clean earth than darken the door of a porta-potty or a nasty gas station toilet.
Roughin' it with the boys. God be with you!
Actually I envy you a little bit. I'd give my eye tooth to go camp right now. Have fun!

Nice... Tn. NICE...

Heck, I didn't get a boot... I got a sandal. Doofiest lookin' thing you'd ever imagine. I still gimp, and the barometric changes screw with me like kitten with a toy mouse. I'm not sure soft tissue would be better than a clean break. I think I had both, and there have been times when I've considered the bow saw and a peg. The hell with, I can play pirate, all I need is a parrot and a patch. This thang hurts for no reason other than to hurt. I guess I'm a sissy, but it's been 3 months or more, and it's still "biggie sized" when compared the the one that didn't crash...

Best of luck with Bone's momma's foot bone...
