I went and voted in person an hour or so ago. I really think elections should always be in person things with mail-in ballots rare and unusual conveniences for those unable to travel to the poll.

If some 3rd world country were allowing votes to be counted which are, as here in Washington State, "postmarked by election day", we'd be accusing them of setting up a system designed for ballot box stuffing. Voting should be done on election day and final counts should be completed before midnight. It's not that tough a thing to do. But getting poll watchers to watch the ballot boxes for a week after the election (while the mail trickles in), is asking for fraud.

This is especially the case because by the time the late votes come in, you know which votes were close, and so which ones are relatively easy to cheat on.

And as far eliminating the electoral college, that would mean that the dead people voting in some Democratically controlled pest-hole could now influence the election even when their own state is not in play.

PeggyU - Nope, I am in SoCal. Have a close girlfriend, though, that escaped and moved to Bothell. Damn....I wish she'd move back.
