Hollywood Thoughts

We went to see Bedtime Stories today. Sometimes, I don’t want my movies to have all the violence and cursing and gratuitous sex.

Sometimes… I just want them to be sweet and funny.

And who knew that Adam Sandler, a comedian I am not fond of as I find his humor juvenile and crude, would be the one that made the movie I was looking for?

I thought it was really funny. The boys thought it was just ‘OK’.

On that note, I’d not recommend it unless you just want innocent silliness. That has been my mood.

On a different note, we saw the previews to some movie with an actress named Anne Hathaway. Perhaps it was the shots in the preview, but it prompted me to write the following to Ms. Hathaway:

“Belly up to the bar, girlfriend! Eat a burger! Drink a shake! You look like CRAP. Seriously, I know we all have different body types, but you’re doing Hollywood thin, I can tell. The intentional waif thin. It makes you look old and your face looks pinched, it looks like someone could snap you in half like a twig, and although there may be a lot of guys out there that love that bag of bones look, most of the guys I know… don’t. Even if you gain 10, you’ll still be lean. Eat dessert. It’ll do you some good.”

I'm in the mood for innocent silliness, too. Movies these days have gotten so icky and ugly. One of these days I'd love to write a post about how horrible I think the cartoons are now, and how there's nothing cool to watch on Saturday mornings anymore.

Anyhow, that's a shame about Anne Hathaway. She was in "The Princess Diaries" with Julie Andrews and I thought she was quite charming and attractive in it. I had no idea she'd gotten so anorexic looking since then.

Erica- I know. I watch the cartoons now and I'm left scratching my head.

As for Anne, yeah, IMDB her and look at the pix from her new movie. She looks frail to me. There is a difference between lean and fit and thin and frail and she looks so frail. I was kind of shocked when I saw her on the big screen during the Previews. I leaned over to my husband and said, "She needs to eat..."

Nothing screams "ugly!" to me more than one of these women sporting the anorexic look. I like some warm loving flesh to put my arms around, not bones. As a matter of fact, I prefer my ladies a little on the pleasantly plump side. Remember the song "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen? Yup, that's what I like.
