Lessons in Anatomy

Did you know, that if you have an entire lung removed that within one year your other lung, will grow to fill that void?

And it will be functional enough that you can run a mile with it?

Essentially, you become one super huge lung?

I found that to be absolutely frickin' fascinating...

I kind of wish I didn't know it the way I do, but I do. Within the next 365 days, my boss will become... "SUPER LUNG!"

My grandmother had half a lung removed because of TB at the age of 45... she lived to be 99 so I guess she regrew that bit of it okay. Heh.

Go go Super Lung!

Wow! That's fascinating :) I guess if Patrick Swayze did have a lung removed, then he can still get by well with one. That's good to know!

.... my Great Uncle George had one of his taken out in 1955...... according to the relatives, it only cut him back from one pack of Camels a day to 1/2 a pack... he lived on that one lung until 1996, if memory serves....

If they remove one of my lungs, will the removed one grow another body around it?

I could use a disposable me.
