Really... Who in the Hell ARE You?

Ringo informed me today he wants to take up boxing.

I told him to bring his grades up each a letter grade and we'll talk. I want a solid A/B average. Right now he always has just ONE C. All A's and B's and we'll talk.

This house is so laden with testerone, I'm frickin' DROWNING. I'm expecting hair to just start sprouting out of my chest just from living with all of this in my home.

And I know a GREAT ENT, but do I want to call him in my future and say, "Can you fix my son's nose? He broke it boxing..." ?

Good Lord.

Is this hereditary, this interest in beating the ever living crap out of people?

Meanwhile, we were at double bass lessons tonight when he looked at the instructor and said, "Can you teach me Pachelbel's Canon in D major?"

Evidently he wants to learn to eventually play this (the bass section), but he'd like to try the original first on his double bass:

Is this really the same kid?

I play it on the fiddle. We can do a duet at the summer ceilidh.

Dad- Maybe with his electric bass. I'm not hauling that 6 foot monstrosity to Pcola for the ceilidh. Nobody else will fit in the car...

BTW, feel free to talk him out of boxing. Just sayin'...

Are you kidding? Boxing is a great sport. Going one on one with another man who's trying to clean your clock brings out the best in a lad.

Could be hereditary... hubby's father boxed and then he took it up while in the Navy.

Or testosterone. ;-)

But don't let appearances fool you; it can be a very disciplined, tactical sport.

This may be wrong of me but OMG! Your dad's body is amazing in that photo. That's an atlete's bod to be sure. Don't let him see this. :-)

He should be encouraged to research the long-term damage done to professional boxers. Just check out Muhammed Ali.

Wow - look at those muscles!

We call it TP (testosterone poisoning)

Cannon? check this out - heehee http://goodgoogledy.blogspot.com/2009/08/funny.html

I'm serious...Moo Duk Kwan saved my ass on more than one occasion (mentally). If he wants to box...he should box, but the key is learning how to use your legs. Of course, you know that.

Yup! Dad was in pretty good shape! I think, according to the back of his picture, he was just shy of his 18th birthday, but honestly, I think it is a year off. I think it's 1959.

I have no desire to have someone rearrange his face. There may be a lot of strategy here, but there's also broken noses and black eyes.

I'm thinking this is a phase. If he thinks this is some career move, he has another thing coming.

Gotta say, Pachelbel's Canon was my least favorite piece back when I played cello in middle school.

8 notes, repeated ad nauseum.

Frickin' horrifying.

Harvey - And it's the same 8 notes on the bass. Ringo should have no trouble learning it.
