Halloween Treats for your Cardiologist

Crazy stuff going on here, most not bloggable, however, I was furloughed today.

For two hours.

My Lead calls it the shortest furlough in the history of furloughs. I was kind of disappointed. I had a long list of things I wanted to do this week. I told him when he called me with the great news that my contract came through, "Great, but I'm coming in late because I'd already decided that tomorrow I was cleaning the bathrooms and changing all the sheets. I'll come in after that..."

He didn't have much to say other than, "Yeah, have fun with that..."

For a Halloween theme, I give you a video TGOO sent me today. Only Southern Living would have "Deep Fried Fridays..."

You know how the Grinch's heart grew three sizes that day? Well my heart shrunk three sizes watching this video. I think I started getting chest pains.

I give you... Deep Fried Candy Corn. You can't make that crap up...

By the way, I don't give Norman long for this world working Deep Fried Fridays for Southern Living. I hope he has good healthcare benefits...

Shortest ever... Guess I'll not have to arrange meeting you this week. ;-)

Sorry you don't get to do your chores due to being employed! That's a nice problem to have. -:)

I love fried foods, but will pass on this one. I AM gonna pass it along to a former food editor friend though.

VW- Cracked me up. I left at Noon, would normally have left at 2, and he called at 4 and said, "Money's in. Come in tomorrow..."

George- It is a GREAT problem to have and I would never complain. I work for a GREAT guy, I get paid well, and overall I like my job. Seriously. There are days I want to poke someone's eye out with a pencil, but overall, those days are few and far between and I chalk them up to the normal aggravations in life. But... I realized I haven't taken a day off of work in a couple years... I mean a real day where I just sit down and clean the house and catch up on managing a household. I always do it on the fly and if I have a day off, it's to do something for someone else, Band, the kids, etc. So, yeah, it's a good problem to have. I'm going in for Noon.

I cannot believe how much I've gotten done. Two loads of laundry (so far), three bathrooms, 5 phone calls, a couple important email, and I've been getting my niece's quilt sandwiched and embroidered. I still have the Post Office, Publix, and to finish pinning the quilt. I'm big energy this morning... can you imagine what I'd get done if I had EIGHT HOURS?!!

Your food editor may like all the youtubes on fried food friday... Gah!

There are fish and chip shops in Scotland that do deep fried Mars bars....

What you described isn't a "day off," but a day of slavery. A day off is one where you don't HAVE to do ANYthing. Sleep late, read a trashy novel, play with the dog or cat, whatever, not all the chores you describe.

I had a mixed day off Tuesday. Went to the zoo in the morning. Mowed the bleeping yard in the afternoon.

I never was a purveyor of candy corn to begin with, but deep fried? Urk.
