Over the last seven years, y'all've seen me do some crazy crap. (I had never actually typed the world y'all've before. I use it all the time... but it really looks weird spelled out...)

I've run a marathon. I've been a vegetable blogger. I've taken on various volunteer organizations that were just... not even a little cup of crazy, but a big dang mug of chaos. I stopped Karate just as I started blogging. (I was a brown belt in Shotokan.) I'm trying to think if I was blogging when I was running/swimming/lifting all the time.

Anyway, yeah... I don't have issues taking it that next step and experimenting with my health to see if it improves and if I can live with it.

Which is why I've decided... to start juicing.

When on the trip to San Antonio, I hung out with a Mom who is a nutritionist and had done the vegan thing. We talked about why that doesn't work. But I was really interested in her juicing theories.

I've talked for awhile about going once a week or once a month on a pure liquid diet. I have enough digestive issues that I thought that a once a month liquid type fast for 24 hours wouldn't be a bad thing.

But this whole thing with fruits and vegetables and juice... I'm thinking.

I'm in the process of looking for a good juicer. She's been giving me tips. Don't be surprised if I become a Juicer blogger for awhile. The ups and downs of what not to drink when juicing... I have a feeling there will be some big mistakes.

She said every now and then she does a five day vegetable/fruit juice detox.

I said, "FIVE days?" to which she said, "I haven't known you that long, but I have a pretty good glimpse into your personality. I suspect if you decide to go five days on vegetable and fruit juice, you WILL go five days on just vegetable and fruit juice..."

To which I in turn replied, "But... after like... a couple days... don't your teeth feel the need to BITE something?"

She gave me an odd look.

I'm probably going to try it, but I think it is a good thing I don't live near a farm or after day three, I might be caught biting a cow.

We shall see...

Urgh. Be careful. Especially if you take any medications. I did a juice fast for a week once and almost ended up with kidney failure. Seriously. My body started feeling all bruised, then I could barely walk without getting out of breath. My doctor told me she thought I just had the flu.

Well...I did not have the flu. Turns out, I could not properly metabolize my medications only on juice. It was awful.

So...check with your doctor. Also, if you get any flu like symptoms, stop.

(/concerned parent speak)

Good luck, though. As you know, I live in Los Angeles, and just about every other person I know is "juicing." I prefer the Chardonnay diet with a side of brie!

Is there a pig diet? Or maybe not a whole pig, just bacon or ham.... or pork chops diet? I could do that while you're juicin' for five days.

Please let me know before you start the juice only days...

DDP- I'm ... not actually on any meds at all. I'm thinking this is kind of growing to be uncommon for my age, but I'm not on anything other than an occasional ibuprofen. However, that said, I will keep it in mind. I suspect I'll be modifying with protein at dinner or lunch. I have to have protein.

Dad- I think they call it Atkins!

VW- I'm still looking for an affordable juicer. It may be awhile.

Strongly advise against it, have heard so many horror stories about juicing not to mention doctors of all kinds highly recommend agains it. You are doing something to your body and system that is shouldn't be doing and doesn't like one bit.

Haven't actually heard of anyone that hasn't ruined their body somehow while juicing.

People actually die from juicing.

I recall that guy, Dr. Tower, came up with the water diet. Something about eat a normal healthy diet, and drink a gallon and a half of water a day.
Your body will make it's own juic(and how!)
It also adds oxygen to your system, and you lose some weight in a sensible way.
I tried it, and it's working for me. In addition to the above,I can also tolerate the hot summers of Jacksonville, Florida easier too, with all that water flowing through me.

Good luck! I have a juicer. In a box. In the cabinet.

I do enjoy your forays into different lifestyles, so if a juice blogger you become, I'll be here for the ride... ;)

I don't see myself dying from this. I've done some pretty crappy things to my body and lived to tell the tale.

I think the key is realizing that just because you're drinking juice, that you drink your plenty of water as well. You must drink water. It's not a substitute.

I think variety is key too. You can't load up on all iron laden vegetables.

What I'd like to do is use it as a nice supplement once a day, that time around 3 when I'm hungry.

And I need protein. I think I'll do something modified because I MUST eat protein. I crave it.

Pork chops... that's the ticket. Lots of protein.

Get a vitamix. It's the best thing in the world!

You could get a Juice Tiger and try the Weekly World News Garth Brooks Juice Diet. But only if you are a Mike Myers fan. :)
